Reconstructive and orthopedic surgery in Israel following a severe traffic accident: patient’s letter

At home on Cyprus Elena suffered in a traffic accident. In a grievous condition she was taken to Israel, to the Hadassah Medical Center, on board of a MedEvac aircraft. Even before departing for Israel, the young woman had received emergency care, and her life was not in danger, but long and difficult treatment was still awaiting in the Hadassah MC.

Reconstructive and orthopedic surgery in Israel: patient's letter

Professor David Linton, one of iMER’s founders, tells the story of Elena’s surgical treatment:

“…Fortunately, our orthopedic surgery specialists were able to resolve all the problems caused by pelvic fractures quickly and without complications in Israel. They stopped internal hemorrhage. Next step was to treat facial skeletal fractures. It took many hours of plastic surgery, performed by a specialist in reconstructive surgery, also already in Israel. Today we can observe the results of this fast, coordinated, technically advanced and efficient treatment of a complicated polytraumatic case. I think this difficult experience made Elena even more beautiful!”

Reconstructive and orthopedic surgery in Israel following a severe traffic accidentWe publish here the continuation of the letter that our young patient left in iMER’s guest book. In her testimony the young lady writes about the doctors – reconstructive surgery specialists and orthopedic surgeons (Dr Alexander Margulis and Dr Amal Khouri), about the nurses from those departments, about the people who were there for her, accompanied and helped her, about those who gave her not only physical, but also moral support.
